Video block

What is the Video block for?

Use video when something is easier to show than describe. The Video block embeds YouTube or Vimeo content directly in the page. It works well for product demos, interviews, tutorials or processes that make more sense in motion — but important information should not exist only inside the video.

Live example: embedded YouTube video

A public technical example showing how a 16:9 video appears inside the normal content flow.

Give people a reason to press play. Instead of “Watch the video”, say in one sentence what they will see or learn from it.

When is video worth using?

  • Product demo: when seeing the product in use is part of the proof.
  • Tutorial: when you need to show a step, movement or process.
  • Interview: when voice, face and presence matter.
  • Project showcase: when the location or result is best understood in motion.

What can you configure in the Video block?

The block is deliberately simple: source, short context and placement are the main decisions.

YouTube or Vimeo

The selected provider determines which player receives the video ID.

Video ID

The block builds a safe embed URL from the video ID. For YouTube, it uses the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie domain.

Title

Explain briefly why the video is worth starting.

Supporting copy

Add only short context. Do not make the video's main point available only in motion.

16:9 display

The public player uses a fixed 16:9 frame and loads lazily as visitors scroll towards it. In the teaser layout, the full video opens on click in a window over the page.

Background and width

Use background, section width and content width settings to fit the video into the page rhythm.

New layout: teaser

Layout · teaser puts a silent preview with a play button where the video would be.

Plays in a window

Clicking play opens the full video with sound in a window over the page. Esc or a click outside closes it.

Vimeo and YouTube

On Vimeo the preview is the video playing muted on a loop (Vimeo only allows this on paid Vimeo plans). On YouTube it is the video's thumbnail picture.

With or without a description

With supporting copy, the text sits beside the frame on wide screens. Without it, the title sits on the frame.

Less motion

If a visitor's device asks for less motion, the teaser shows without motion effects.

The same public YouTube video, this time as a thumbnail with a play button. A click opens it with sound in a window over the page.

SHOW IT IN MOTION

A good video does not make the page longer. It makes the idea faster to understand.

Give it a clear role, a short introduction and a title that explains why it is worth watching before anyone presses play.
