Edit multilingual content

How does multilingual content work?

One website, multiple languages, one editor. On a multilingual site, each page, news item and event is one piece of content with language-specific text. You do not maintain separate pages for every language. That means structural changes — such as moving a block or replacing an image — apply across languages, while the copy can be written separately for each one.

Enable website languages under Settings → Website → Languages. See Languages for that setup. This guide focuses on editing the language versions afterwards.

How are multilingual URLs structured?

  • The primary language has no language prefix, for example /services.
  • Additional languages start with the language code, for example /en/services or /de/leistungen.

Each language version can have its own translated URL slug. News and event prefixes can also be set by language, for example /hirek in Hungarian and /en/news in English. Search engines are given the relationship between language versions automatically, and the sitemap and llms.txt include every supported language version that should be listed.

Edit a language version

On a multilingual website, language tabs appear at the top of a selected block's settings in the editing panel. The tabs show which languages already have text and which are still empty. Switch to the language you want and write the copy there.

You will find similar language tabs anywhere visitors see text: header and footer settings, menu labels, cookie consent text and category names. Set the page title, URL and SEO copy by language in Page settings.

Use AI for a first translation, then review it. You do not have to translate every block by hand. Under AI page actions, Translate page… translates all supported blocks in one step, while a selected block has a Translate… action under AI suggestions. Translation also uses the website voice profile as guidance. Review the result afterwards, especially headings, calls to action and terminology. See Use AI in the editor for details.

What is visible in each language?

You can control visibility by language for each page. In Page settings → Visibility, turn off a language under Visible in while that version is unfinished. For news and events, use the per-language active switches on the Publication tab. This lets the Hungarian version be live while the English version is still being prepared.

Menu items can also be hidden by language so a page available only in Hungarian does not appear in the English navigation. The Readiness checklist highlights languages that are still missing a title, description or block translation.

Language switcher for visitors

You can enable the language switcher in the header, footer or both. It only appears when more than one language has published content. When visitors switch languages, they go to the corresponding language version of the same page rather than being sent back to the homepage. See Header and main navigation and Footer for setup details.
