Statement block

What is the Statement block for?

One thought, with full attention. A Statement block puts a single short statement on the page in large type and reveals it gradually as visitors scroll. It suits a company's credo, the core of a service, or a pause between two sections of a longer page.

The effect works when the statement is short and strong: one or two sentences, 25–30 words at most. Longer copy belongs in a Rich text block.

Three reveals, the same sentence

You can switch the reveal at any time without rewriting the sentence.

Word by word

The words sharpen one after another as visitors scroll down. Emphasised parts appear in italics in the accent colour.

Marker

The whole sentence stays visible, and a marker stroke draws itself under the emphasised parts as visitors scroll.

Giant lines

Each line becomes a giant row sliding in from the left and the right in turn. Most striking with a short text of three or four lines.

Word by word

A good website doesn't say everything. Only what matters.

Giant lines

Emphasis with two equals signs. Put two equals signs before and after the parts of the sentence you want to emphasise: depending on the reveal, they appear in italics in the accent colour or with a marker stroke. A new line starts a new line in all three reveals, and with Giant lines every line becomes its own row.

Everyone can read it. If a visitor's browser does not run JavaScript, or their device asks for less motion, the whole sentence shows at once. Search engines get the full text too.

What can you set on a Statement block?

Apart from the statement, every field is optional.

Alignment

Left or centre. A centred statement feels more ceremonial, a left-aligned one reads more easily.

Small line above

A short label above the statement, such as "What we believe". It appears in capitals in the accent colour.

Name and role

If the statement is someone's own words, their name and role appear below it.

Button

An optional button with a label and a link, for example to your About page. Set its colours in the Colours section of the block settings.

Background

The block's background is set as usual; on a dark or accent band the statement stands out even more.

Languages

The statement, the labels and the button text are written separately for each language.

One sentence that stays

One statement per page is enough.

If every sentence is emphasised, none of them is. Pick the one visitors should remember.
