Chosen news story block

What is the Chosen news story block for?

If you want to feature one specific article, you do not need a full list. The Chosen news story block shows one manually selected news item as a recommendation. Use it for a related article, an important announcement or any editorial situation where the same piece should stay in focus.

The block does not duplicate the article. Its title, lead, card image and metadata come from the selected news item itself. The author's name shows too; turn off Show the author to hide it.

Manual selection means a fixed editorial choice. In the editor, you can select a draft or scheduled news item, but it only appears publicly once that item is published and visible in the current language. If the source article is deleted, the recommendation disappears too.

Three layouts, three levels of visual emphasis

The same selected article can play a different role depending on how much space you want to give it.

Card

A large 16:9 image-led recommendation. Good for a standalone editorial highlight or the main article in a section.

List

Image and copy sit side by side. Useful when the recommendation should stay in rhythm with nearby content.

Compact

A text-led version without an image. Good for related reading or a lower-emphasis recommendation at the end of an article.

Live example

The same article in three layouts, from top to bottom: Card, List and Compact.

ONE STORY IN FOCUS

Feature one article where it genuinely adds to the page.

If freshness or browsing several articles matters more, switch to a News list.
