Manage website users

How do you manage website users?

Everyone listed here can edit the website. Manage access under Settings → System → Users. The list shows everyone who can sign in to the editor, including their name, email address and when they were added. Your own row is marked You.

There are no separate roles: every website user has the same full editing access. They can edit pages and news, change site settings, and add or remove other website users. Only add people you are comfortable giving that level of access to.

There is no website-editor password: the email address is the sign-in credential. When someone signs in, Demona sends a one-time link to that address. Anyone who can access that inbox can use the link, so make sure the email address is accurate and actively controlled by the intended user.

Add a new user

  1. Click New user.
  2. Enter the person's name and email address. Use an address they actively read, because sign-in links are sent there.
  3. Click Save.

An email address can only appear once in the user list.

No invitation email is sent automatically. Tell the colleague to open the website's /login page and request a sign-in link using the address you added.

How does a website user sign in?

On the website's /login page, enter the email address and choose Send me a sign-in link. The email normally arrives within a few minutes, and the user signs in with one click.

  • The link is valid for 15 minutes and can be used once.
  • A new link can be requested for the same address at most once per minute.
  • For security, the page gives the same response whether or not the address exists in the user list. If no email arrives, check that the exact address is listed.

If you also have access to this website through a Demona account, you can enter the editor without requesting an email link: open the website from your Demona applications and use the direct editor action. The login page's Sign in with Demona link takes you to that route.

The two sign-ins are separate. This Users list controls access to the website editor. Your Demona account at demona.ai is a separate account used for things such as domain, billing and website-level account management. Adding someone here does not create a Demona account, and adding someone to a Demona team does not automatically add them to this website-user list.

Change a name or email address

Click Edit on the user's row, update the name or email address, then save.

Changing the email address also changes the sign-in credential: after saving, new sign-in links can only be requested for the new address. A typo can lock a colleague out, so check the address before saving.

Remove a user

Click Delete on the user's row and confirm. The removed user loses access immediately and can no longer request new sign-in links.

  • You can remove your own website-user access. If you do, you are signed out immediately and cannot sign in again through this user entry.
  • The last user cannot be deleted. If only one website user remains, deletion is blocked so the editor is not left with nobody able to sign in. To replace the last user, add the new person first, then remove the old one.
