Export your website

How do you export all of your website content?

Your website content is yours, and you can download a copy. An export packages the site's content into one ZIP archive: pages, news, events, messages, settings and media-library files across all languages. Use it for backup, archiving or when preparing to move content to another system.

Start an export under Settings → System → Export.

Create an export step by step

 1. Click Start export.
 2. The archive is prepared in the background, so you do not need to keep the page open. A large media library can take several minutes.
 3. When it is ready, Demona sends a download link by email to the user who started the export. The Download export (.zip) button also appears on the Export page.

You must be signed in to download the archive. The link in the email does not bypass authentication; if you open it while signed out, you are taken to the login page first.

The archive is available for 24 hours. Demona deletes it one day after it is created. The exact expiry time appears on the Export page and in the email. If it expires, start a new export; each export captures the website's current state at the time it is prepared.

What is included in the archive?

Each content type is exported as JSON across all languages, while original media files are stored in a separate folder.

Pages

Every page with all of its blocks.

News and news categories

News items with their blocks, plus the category list.

Events and event categories

Events with their blocks and event data, plus the category list.

Messages and form submissions

Messages submitted through contact forms, plus Form builder submissions together with the files visitors uploaded.

Newsletter subscriptions

Email addresses submitted through newsletter signup forms.

Redirects

All redirect rules.

Users

Website-editor users, without passwords.

Media library

Media metadata, plus the original uploaded files in the
media/
folder.

Settings

Website settings such as identity, brand, header, footer, SEO and other configuration.

What is not included?

Passwords and saved API secrets — for example a Google Places key or captcha secret — are never included in the archive. The export only records whether such a key is configured. If you move the content to another system, enter those secrets again there.

One export at a time

While an export is being prepared, another one cannot start, even if two users try at the same time. The Export page always shows the latest export state. If an export fails, the page tells you; simply start a new one.

The archive can contain personal data. It may include received messages, newsletter subscribers and user email addresses. Handle it like other customer or account data: keep access limited, avoid sending it through insecure channels, and delete copies you no longer need.
