Slideshow block

What is the Slideshow block for?

One space, several successive focal points. Slideshow shows several images or short story elements in the same area. Use it when it is acceptable for visitors to see one part at a time and no later slide contains information they must see to understand the offer.

Do not put decision-critical information on a later slide. A slideshow should create focus, not hide the essential content.

The style changes the character of the slideshow

  • Classic: full-width image with copy over it.
  • Split: image and copy have equal weight.
  • Hero: a large headline and CTA over the image.
  • Magazine: image above, copy below, with a more editorial feel.
  • Cards: previews several slides at once for lighter browsing.

Cards style: a control bar below the slides

In the Cards style, set Controls to Bar under the cards and the controls move off the photos into a bar below them. Under the middle picture you see a counter and the slide title, for example “Gallery – image 3”, round arrows on the left and an optional button on the right, such as “Browse the gallery”, linking to the full gallery page.

  • Counter prefix: you write the word “Gallery” yourself. Leave it empty and only the number shows, for example “3 / 7”.
  • Button label and Button link: the button only appears when both are filled in.
  • The slide title under the picture is always readable, and no dark gradient goes over the photo. It suits light, airy pages best.

What can you configure in the Slideshow block?

It is one of the most flexible media blocks: layout, aspect ratio, navigation and motion can all be tuned separately.

Five styles

Classic, Split, Hero, Magazine or Cards from the same slide sequence.

Aspect ratio, height and width

Choose Original, 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1 or 3:4. Height can follow the ratio or use Short, Tall or Fullscreen. Full-width image removes the 1280 px image limit and lets it reach the screen edge.

Six transitions

Fade, Slide, Zoom, Push, Reveal or Blur fade.

Navigation

Previous/next arrows plus Dots, Numbers, Thumbs or Progress pagination — or none.

Autoplay

Enable automatic changes from 2 to 30 seconds. When a visitor prefers reduced motion, slides do not advance automatically.

Caption and CTA

Choose the caption position, while slide buttons share one button colour treatment.

BROWSABLE, NOT HIDDEN

Use a slideshow to create focus — not to bury content.

Make the first slide strong on its own, keep the sequence short, and do not let autoplay move faster than people can read.
