Chosen event block

What is the Chosen event block for?

Use it when one specific event deserves the spotlight. The Chosen event block recommends one manually selected event on another page. It works well for the next important programme, a related event or even a past event that still matters to the story.

The block uses the event's own title, date, venue, lead, image and category, so you do not have to maintain those details twice. Above the event, the block can also have a title and a short lead of its own (Block title, Lead), for example “Coming up”.

Example: the same event in three layouts

The three blocks below show the same demo event in Card, List and Compact layouts. Each one pulls the date, venue, image and introduction from the event itself. The event is fictional and exists only as a Help Center example.

Card

List

Compact

A manual selection does not expire automatically. A past event can stay visible if you deliberately selected it. You can also select a draft or scheduled event in the editor, but it only appears publicly once it is published and visible.

For events, “when” and “where” can matter more than the lead.

The recommendation pulls the event date or date range, venue, category, image and description from the source event. If the event has already taken place, the layout indicates that status rather than removing the block automatically.

Three layouts for one specific event

The layout controls how much visual emphasis the recommendation receives.

Card

A large image-led event recommendation. Good for a featured programme or one important event you want to bring forward.

List

Image, date and content sit side by side. Useful when the event should fit into the rhythm of the surrounding section.

Compact

A smaller, image-free version. Practical for related events or tighter spaces.

ONE EVENT IN FOCUS

Feature one event without building a full programme listing.

If several events need to update automatically by date, switch to an Event list.
